Image manipulation in Photoshop can be divided into three stages:

• The original image

• Exploring the Image window and Layers panel

• Manipulating (editing) the image

Exploring the Image window and Layers panel

Photoshop is an image editing program, and if that’s all you want to do, it’s a fairly easy program to use. However, it’s also a program that has many features and tools that professional graphic designers can use to enhance images and effects by cropping, rotating, recoloring, or adding other layers.

You can see images in their entirety, or you can slice them up into layers. Some layers may contain shapes or other image elements, some layers can contain adjustments to the image as a whole, while others can contain individual adjustment layers.

Adding new layers to work on

A layer is a virtual workspace that you can add to an image. You can then manipulate each layer in the same way you manipulate the image as a whole. A layer is the simplest form of a creative work area; the layer is the most basic workspace that allows you to edit your work.

As you work, you may create other layers to modify the parts of the image that you want to work on. By adding and deleting layers, you can create and delete multiple work areas. A layer is an area of the image that you can add text to, change a shape, or apply an adjustment to.

Each new layer that you add can function just as any other layer. It can be visible or invisible. You can resize it, and you can name it. You may duplicate it or merge it into an existing layer.

New layers can be added manually to any image, or you may create them via the Layers panel, explained next.

Using the Layers panel

The Layers panel (see Figure 6-1) is part of the image window and enables you to explore, create, merge, and edit layers. You can add individual layers, create a group (a collection of layers), group layers (like menus), or merge layers.

If you are looking for something between Photoshop and Elements, you can use Photoshop CC. It’s best for designers, photographers and anyone wanting to work on massive images.

Required Equipment

Get the software you can afford. Photoshop is very expensive but you will learn new tricks that can make your work more efficient and you will often have to create something once in Photoshop and again in Elements.

Having a great scanner is essential. It is also much easier to use better quality software that uses a scanner.

You will need the right connectivity. If you need to edit images on a Mac, get an Ethernet cable and an external hard drive. Most Macs only come with Wi-Fi connections and you can’t access your computer when you’re sitting on the sofa. If you need to send the images to people you will need a fast connection, a USB 3.0 port and a lot of free space on your hard drive.

You will need a tablet and a mouse to use Photoshop on a Mac. The tablet is used to draw and the mouse is used to move images around and select objects. If you have a more expensive laptop then you will also need a keyboard.

You need a keyboard (or a tablet and a stylus). You can use one of the ones that comes with the computer and two of the same model.

You need a monitor. If you are on Windows you can use your phone or tablet. If you have a bigger screen you can buy a small monitor for it.

You can get an external hard drive for your images and documents. You will need enough space for your images for years and you can buy a larger hard drive later.

1. Install Photoshop

Installing Photoshop is straightforward. You will need your Mac’s internet connection or a USB connection. You will need to download a torrent file to install the software. If you don’t want to download a torrent file you can download the.dmg file instead.

my data has column a:

followed by more than 100 rows with different values in column a.
Is there any way to compare this: substring a in column ‘a’ with column ‘text’. My problem is when the value in column ‘a’ is longer than the one in column ‘text’, it returns true.

Is there a way to compare the substring with the original string? Or it is possible to compare the substring with every cell in column ‘a’?

If column “text” is character varying then you need to convert a into text before and use regular equality comparison.

I’m trying to apply edeting to a png file with imagick, after read image to PHP script
but it doesn’t work on 16 bit depth png file.
For getting value from EDITED_VALUE

So finaly I resolved this problem
I was trying to calculate opacity with this formula:
$rawValue * Multiply($image->getImageOpacity(), 255),

it is true when image is 8 bit depth.
if image is 16 bit depth or bigger, $rawValue is too small and it doesn’t work.
My problem was to calculate $rawValue with imageWidth * imageHeight, but I only had half of imageHeight, and I made problem
