# 3.2. Resizing Photos

Photo applications have a wealth of possibilities for resizing an image to a desired size. However, a common problem in photo editing is that the cropping tool only works on the active layer. If you need to crop multiple layers, you’re stuck using the Photoshop Crop tool, which works only on the first layer.

Some photo editing software supports an option to simultaneously crop multiple photos at once, which is an extremely handy way to create a collage.

## Crop and Resize

The easiest method for resizing your images is to use the crop and resize tool. As you can see in Figure 3-8, it’s well labeled, allowing you to use it easily. The crop and resize tool offers you a few options for resizing. For more on the crop and resize tool, including different kinds of resizing, see Figure 3-9.

This article is for photographers who wish to edit, combine and rearrange images from one size to a different size. This includes to print smaller or bigger versions of your photos.

Photoshop for Mac is a powerful and fun photo editing tool. However, the range of edits it can perform is limited.

It is great for light editing, like cropping, adding borders, editing the colour balance and adjusting the exposure. However, if you need more complex editing, like removing or adding objects, turning pages upside down, or trying to increase the resolution, then Photoshop will not be the best tool. Photoshop can also run really slow on older computers.

GIMP is a free, open source alternative to Photoshop. Its interface is very similar to Photoshop. The range of editing options is not as extensive as Photoshop but it is still powerful enough for many types of editing.

It is best for beginner and intermediate photographers who want to make simple edits like red-eye correction, straightening images, increasing or decreasing the resolution, enhancing or reducing the contrast and generally work on only a few small areas of a photo at a time.

You can use the photo editor directly from your computer rather than uploading to a website. The images are downloaded to your computer as JPEG files.

You can use the editor to combine, reduce or resize images, swap the colours, apply filters and change the settings.

If you’re a web designer, then you can use Photoshop as your tool to create a variety of themes and images for websites.

You can also create logos and other types of graphics using the editor.

Photoshop Elements, a free image editor from the same company as Photoshop, is an excellent alternative to Photoshop. Photoshop Elements is for the home user and is best for newbies who just want to edit or reshape small areas of an image. It is a very efficient and easy to use tool for that.

Photoshop Elements has a lot of the same features as the rest of the Photoshop family but it is not as powerful. It is aimed at a different audience than Photoshop so it will not work as well for high-end work but if you’re a casual user you won’t be disappointed.

Regulation of the retinoic acid receptor beta 1 gene expression by Sp1/Sp3 and specificity protein (Sp) 1 in small cell lung cancer H146 cell line.
The retinoic acid receptor beta1 (RARbeta1) is expressed in normal small airway epithelial cells, however, the low expression of the gene in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) indicates a mechanism of tumor suppression. The upstream region of the RARbeta1 gene contained cis-acting elements necessary for basal gene expression. Previous studies showed that the level of RARbeta1 expression was regulated by Sp1, a trans-acting factor, in LNCaP human prostate cancer cells. We identified the cis-acting elements responsible for basal transcription of RARbeta1. The transcription rate and half-life of RARbeta1 was down-regulated in H146 SCLC cells. Two cis-acting elements, E1 and E2, essential for basal transcription of RARbeta1, were identified. A combination of two Sp1-binding sites, E1 and E2, with a Sp3-binding site and two Sp1-binding sites, E3 and E4, was found to be required for basal transcription of RARbeta1. Sp3, a closely related and functionally redundant member of Sp1, was shown to be also involved in the transcriptional activity. In the H146 cells, two Sp1-binding sites, E3 and E4, were present, and the transcriptional activity was enhanced by co-expression of Sp1 and Sp3. The presence of Sp1 was shown to be correlated with the down-regulation of RARbeta1 in lung cancer. Sp1 and Sp3 were also shown to be implicated in the down-regulation of RARbeta1 expression in H146 cells. The data suggest that Sp1 plays a major role as the trans-factor in the down-regulation of RARbeta1 expression in SCLC cells.Josh A. Tabor

Characterization of the apical surfaces of human endolymphatic sac epithelial cells in vitro.
Endolymphatic sacs (ES) are a unique structure which communicates with both the central nervous system and the endolymph. Many reports have suggested that the ES plays an important role in the regulation of endolymph volume. However, the ES has not been well characterized in an in vitro culture system. This study was designed to characterize the apical surface of cultured human endolymphatic sac epithelial cells. Human ES cells were established in the presence of fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF-2) and the FGF-2-induced cells were grown on transwell culture plates and characterized with monoclonal antibodies against cytokeratin and vimentin. The apical surfaces of the ES cells were examined by using indirect immunofluorescence with monoclonal antibodies against cytokeratin and the tight junction protein, claudin-1. Our results showed that the ES cells express cytokeratin and claudin-1. Cytokeratin, a specific cytokeratin marker of epithelial cells, was expressed by the ES cells, which are a primitive epithelium derived from the neural crest. The ES cells also expressed claudin-1, which is a tight junction protein expressed in both epithelia and endothelia. These findings indicate that the ES epithelium has the characteristics of both epithelia and endothelia and that these cells might regulate endolymph homeostasis through a paracellular pathway. So I have a mx 352 and I want to ask the question for what would be the best combination of a trigger and sear to take my trigger duty point down from 2.5 to 1.5 without taking a hn any higher on the low end of the trigger.

Depending on how you define the low end of the trigger is 1.5 or 2.5 with.5 actually being a decent mid range, where you arent catching and firing at the 2.5 just enough to keep your finger from the trigger.

If i take off the two spring that rise on the sear and put an Oc hammock spring in the sear that works out to a diameter of 1/4 of an inch, would that be too soft for the MX 352?
