Drawing in the GIMP

The GIMP is a vector graphics editor that requires users to create graphics using a command line interface. It also uses a layer-based editing system, but it does not support transparency. Its size is much smaller than Photoshop.

How to Open an Image

Whenever you open an image, Photoshop Elements opens its native application.

There is a default image in a new file. You can open it with Photoshop Elements. To open the default image, choose File > Open or press the Ctrl (Command) and O keys together.

To open an image from a source such as e-mail or text documents, choose File > Open. To find it and open it in a second time, hold the Ctrl (Command) key and click the image in the file list.

How to Save an Image

Portrait of Philippus Jacobi

Portrait of Philippus Jacobi is an early known self-portrait by Rembrandt. It was first exhibited in 1639 at the Leiden University. It is now in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin.

In the year 1639, Rembrandt took a journey to the Dutch United Provinces, staying in Leiden. This was the period when Rembrandt worked on several portraits of his friends and colleagues, in particular his good friend Johannes Pynas. Among the portraits of Pynas, there is a self-portrait, now in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin. It is a small, oval portrait in oil on wood.

Since Rembrandt took an early trip to Leiden, it is assumed that he was there at the beginning of 1639. Nevertheless, it is possible that this portrait was painted in Paris, not in Leiden. Although at the time of its creation, the master’s studio in Leiden was expanded by his art dealer Hendrick van Uylenburgh.

Rembrandt later entered his likeness in his Dutch archives. It was found under the signatures Emile Klinckowström dated 1655 and Jacobus Emiles dated 1656. In 1517 the Archival of the Leiden University had been founded, but was destroyed in 1944 during the second world war. The archives became the most important Dutch national collection of paintings and other art, and the Rembrandt bureau was established to help in the maintenance of the collection.

How to apply rotation to an image?

Actually, I use JavaFX and I want to rotate an Image object when there is a mouse click.
I tried to create a code like this but it doesn’t work because the method rotate is not supported by images. (Rotate method is supported only by vector/scalar type.
